Mrs T. W. Moss, who had been in failing health for some months, passed away at her residence, Sexton-street, South Brisbane, on Saturday night. The deceased lady, who is a daughter of Mr Philip Nott, had suffered for some time from a heart trouble. Complications set in some weeks ago, and a recent paralytic seizure heightened(?) the end. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved husband, Mr T. W. Moss, who is widely respected, not alone as the hon, secretary of the Queensland Congregational Union, but on account of his work in other directions. IN MEMORIAM
Brisbane Courier Wed 10 May 1916 p11
The late Mr S.E. Nott (Sydney Ewart), whose death took place at Solomon Islands on April 11, after an illness of only a few days, was the son of Mr Philip Nott, an old and respected resident of South Brisbane. Much sympathy has been expressed for the family, this being the second occasion on which they have suffered bereavement since the beginning of the year, the late Mr S.E. Nott’s brother, Mr J. H. Nott, having passed away on January 4, at the age of 36 years. The late Mr S.E. Nott will be well remembered in tennis circles, having played for many years with his brother and inseparable companion, Mr P.R. Nott. He was 30 years of age, and was of a cheerful and lovable nature.
Sydney Nott may have been working for Burns Philp, and had been sent to Tulagi in the Solomon Islands. There does not seem to be any other reason why he should have gone to this remote and tiny island.
Tulagi was an island in the Solomon Island group where in 1910, the Burns, Philp Company opened a store; soon after, in 1915, the British Government opened a hospital to serve the white community and the labourers who passed through the Department of Labour. The British had chosen Tulagi as the Protectorate capital of the Solomon Island group in 1897 because of its central position in the island chain and because of its deep water harbour.
Burns, Philp Co. was a major Australian shipping line and merchant operating in the South Pacific. It had a dominant role in trade in the region distributing general merchandise and collecting copra. It was also the first company to offer tourism to New Guinea (in 1884), and by 1914 the Burns Philip Tourist Dept. was established.

WEDDING
Brisbane Courier Thurs 6 July 1922 p15 (wedding of Annie Isabel Nott known as Isabel)
WEDDINGS
A wedding of interest to many Brisbane and Kingaroy friends was celebrated on June 14 at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dr. E. N. Merrington, when Mr Arnold Young (son of Mr and Mrs David Young of Kingaroy) was married to Miss Isabel Nott (youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Philip Nott, South Brisbane). The bride who was given away by her father wore a beautiful gown of white satin charmeuse, richly embroidered in silver beads and brilliants, over which was draped an overdress of white silk Chantilly lace, caught at the waist with hand-made georgette flowers and orange blossoms. A court train of satin and georgette, embroidered in true lovers’ knots, was suspended from the shoulders. A lovely veil of embroidered Brussels net completely covered the costume. It was arranged in cap fashion, with sprays of orange blossoms, and was lent by her sister-in-law (Mrs N. S. Nott). She carried a bouquet of white sweet peas and arum lilies. The bridesmaids were Miss Elsie Young (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Jean Reid (niece of the bride). They wore dainty white frocks arranged with shadow lace, and touched with pink, which colour also ornamented their crème picture hats. They carried bouquets of shaded pink sweet peas. Mr Bryan Connolly and Mr Clive Chisholm attended the bridegroom respectively. After the ceremony the guests, who were restricted to relatives, were entertained at the residence of the bride’s sister (Mrs A. Reid, Dierton, East Brisbane). A feature pf the breakfast table was a beautiful wedding cake (the work of Mrs A. H. Nott). On leaving for the honeymoon, which was spent at Buderim Mountains, Mrs Young wore a smartly braided frock of navy serge opening over a slip of henna taffeta, with a close-fitting hat of navy and henna taffetas.
Curiously, the article above mistakenly says that Annie Isabel was given away by her father Philip Nott who was deceased by then.
